Serving Memphis
The Send Relief Memphis Ministry Center serves Memphians is a variety of ways and offers numerous opportunities for individuals and churches to participate in this life changing ministry to Memphians.
Serving Raleigh with Compassion and Hope
We are deeply grateful for the Mid-South Baptist churches and ministry partners who continue to support the Send Relief Ministry Center in the Raleigh community. Your generosity, prayers, and faithful service are making a lasting difference in the lives of families across our city.
One of our key ministries is the Good Samaritan Program, which was created in response to a significant need in our community. We learned that more than 3,000 children in Shelby County are identified as homeless, meaning many mothers and children are living in hotels, staying with others, or even sleeping in their cars. Through this ministry, we come alongside families with encouragement, practical resources, and relational support as they work toward stability.
Many of our church partners also serve through ministries such as Loads of Compassion [LOC] and Door of Hope. LOC is an outreach ministry where volunteers serve neighbors experiencing homelessness by providing a free load of laundry. Volunteers assist participants while building relationships and sharing the love of Christ through conversation, prayer, and care packages. Send Relief partners with Door of Hope to deliver household baskets and offer prayer and the gospel to residents who were once chronically homeless.
Through these ministries, we have seen how simple acts of compassion can lead to life-changing relationships. Our team met “Heather” (name changed) through Doors of Hope. At first, she was hesitant and guarded and did not want anyone to pray with her. But through consistent visits and genuine care, trust began to grow, and her life began to change. Today, “Heather” has been baptized, connected to a local church in Memphis, and is going through the membership process.
We are also excited to launch a new initiative in dual partnership with The Dwelling Place Christian Church called Dwell Well. Through this ministry, we will continue serving individuals experiencing homelessness in the Raleigh community. Over the past several weeks, our team has consistently visited local homeless tent communities, built relationships and provided essential supplies to our neighbors in need.
The second stage of this ministry will begin with a soft launch on April 29 and will take place every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to serve through meals and fellowship, a clothing store, showers, programming, and other wraparound support services. We invite you to join us as we care for our vulnerable neighbors and live out the call to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.
We are thankful for every church, volunteer, and donor who supports the Send Relief Ministry Center. Your partnership continues to help meet needs and change lives while opening doors for hope, healing, and transformation.
Opportunities to Get Involved
Good Samaritan Program (Housing-Insecure Families and Individuals)
Send Relief Hotline Volunteers
We are looking for five volunteers to join our hotline team. Each person would serve one day per week, answering calls and connecting people in need with available resources. Training will be provided so volunteers feel confident and equipped.
10:33 Program: Family Day Out (Childcare Team)
8 times per year, usually Saturdays, 4 hours
We hope to recruit 15 young adults who can serve monthly by helping with childcare during our 10:33 program. This allows us to care for the children while their mothers attend a meal, programming, and fellowship time.
Family Connectors with 10:33 Families
We currently have six families in our care and are seeking one additional volunteer, along with their church group, to walk alongside a family. The 10:33 Program, based on the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:33, is designed for families who have experienced homelessness. In this program, a church and a family commit to growing together so the family can flourish as God intends.
Loads of Compassion (LOC)
2nd Thursdays (every other month), 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Loads of Compassion is an outreach ministry where volunteers serve neighbors experiencing homelessness by providing a free load of laundry. Volunteers assist participants with washing and drying their clothes while building relationships and sharing the love of Christ through conversation, prayer, and care packages. In partnership with the Hospitality Hub, participants are transported to the laundromat so teams can meet practical needs while demonstrating God’s compassion in our community.
Door of Hope Ministry
4th Thursdays (every other month), 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
We could use 2 to 4 new volunteers to join the Doors of Hope team. Send Relief partners with a local nonprofit to deliver household baskets and offer prayer and the gospel to residents who were once chronically homeless.
Reaching Raleigh
Every Tuesday, 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
We need five volunteers to reach friends experiencing homelessness in the Raleigh community by offering essential, emotional, and spiritual care. These engagements also create opportunities to connect individuals with wraparound resources and local churches for lasting support.
Work Ministry Opportunity
Date TBD
Send Relief has various work projects that a small group of volunteers could assist with, including wall coving, installing posts for hammocks and outdoor lights, assembling outdoor furniture, and more. Some projects require semi-skilled volunteers, while others could be completed by anyone willing to help. This could serve as a men’s group event on a Saturday or as a regular weekly or monthly opportunity for retired volunteers to donate their time. It would be especially helpful to identify a leader who could help recruit internally at Bellevue for these projects. To discuss scheduling, contact Kevin Cox at kcox@sendrelief.net.
Food Crisis Support
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Five volunteers are needed to help provide essential food support to families in need. Volunteers serve in key roles such as organizing and preparing food boxes, delivering supplies to nearby communities, and following up with families through the hotline. This team helps ensure that food is distributed efficiently, compassionately, and responsibly to those facing hardship.
Dwell Well
Every Wednesday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Anticipated launch date: April 29, 2026
Volunteers are needed to support our unhoused neighbors through food distribution, clothing, showers, programming, and wraparound services in partnership with The Dwelling Place Christian Church. Join us as we serve our vulnerable friends and be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.
